Metamorphosis

I used to think I wasn’t good at meditating or practicing mindfulness. Then I found myself present—in the moment, in my breath—while exercising: one day running for 30 minutes, another in a Pilates class.
I like the person I’m becoming: more aware, more present. I go about my daily activities with greater care, attention, and no rush.
I wake up in the mornings, and there’s no way to ignore the fact that a baby is growing inside me. It reminds me before I sleep, when I wake, and every time I eat something.
How many times have we heard that the human body is the most perfect and complex machine? I’m in awe of the transformation women’s bodies go through. What we see on the outside is only a tiny part of the deep changes happening within.
I’m glad to be living my metamorphosis.
I’m learning the importance of eating healthily—not just for me, but for someone else. Bad fats and alcohol harm the baby’s cognitive development. Its DNA is being shaped by what I consume, even before birth.
I also worry about the future. For a long time, I identified with the film Lion, directed by Garth Davis. How can one forget the scene where Nicole Kidman’s son confronts her about having adopted him?
And then the beautiful surprise of hearing her answer: that she chose to adopt as an act of goodwill and kindness—to give something back to the world for all she had received, to improve another human being’s life instead of creating one of her own.
My respect goes to those who adopt, raise, shape, and bring hope to children who lack opportunities. It’s a way of giving back to the world—a world that today is crying out for help. Pollution, global warming, overproduction, and... overpopulation?
Global birth rates have dropped drastically in recent years. So what now?
The problem lies in the way we live. Consumerism is destroying the human race.
While a life grows inside me, I wonder what kind of world awaits it.
My present is clear. I live without harming others, I take responsibility for my actions, and I carry a deep desire to help transform reality.
And yours?
